MPC & PCAA News – Summer 2018

Natasha Ramoutar

MPC student Natasha Ramoutar wins Participants’ Choice Award at the 2018 Ryerson 3MT Competition

Natasha’s presentation, entitled “Fight Like a Girl: Digital Storytelling for Self-Motivation,” was selected by her fellow 3MT competitors for a Participants’ Choice Award.

Her project proposes to create an online storytelling portal that shares stories of self-motivation from female martial artists. The platform would be accessible to audiences who aren’t typically able to participate in martial arts or attend post-secondary education where many of these skills and values are taught.

Check out this video of her presentation:

Congratulations Natasha!

New PCAA Executive Committee

On April 4th, a new PCAA Executive Committee was selected. The committee was chosen at the annual Spring Social event.

President: Ian Barcarse (MPC 2015)

Vice President: Vanessa To (MPC 2017)

Vice President of Alumni Relations: Jacky Au Duong (MPC 2014)

Vice President of Finance: Katherine Fernandez-Blance (MPC 2017)

Treasurer: Danielle Taylor (MPC 2015)

As President, Ian Barcarse will be organizing and directing PCAA activities and events. Vice President, Vanessa To will be maintaining and taking lead on the guidelines and policies of the PCAA. Vice President of Alumni Relations, Jacky Au Duong is excited to engage with ProCom graduates who are eligible to join the PCAA.

We’re confident that the incoming executive team will continue to build on the solid groundwork that’s been laid by past presidents and former volunteers. Stay tuned for more exciting ways to give back and get involved with your alma matter – including our upcoming Social Series and the summer rendition of our ProCom Connect Mentorship program.

We’re pleased to welcome a new cohort of volunteer leaders to the PCAA!
