PCAA’s inaugural Fireside Chat brought the ProCom community together with Google Canada’s Leslie Church and McDonald’s Canada’s Jeanette Jones for a lively evening of food, drink and discussion.

The ProCom Alumni Association (PCAA) offered a warm and cozy shelter away from the season’s first snowfall at November’s inaugural Fireside Chat at JOEY Eaton Centre in Toronto.

As a candidate for the upcoming cohort I was curious to see what the night had in store and was delighted to discover that it exceeded expectations.

The intimate gathering, held on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, was both inviting and appetizing. Hearty hors d’oeuvres like lobster grilled cheese were provided by JOEY, outshined only by the conversation and camaraderie of the group.

It was refreshing to see students, faculty and former graduates come together and connect in the spirit of the upcoming season. As Stefan Milosevic, MPC Class of 2014, aptly tweeted:

The evening was highlighted by an engaging Q&A, hosted by the PCAA Events Committee, between the audience and panellists Jeanette Jones, Director, External Communications & Social Media at McDonald’s Canada, and Leslie Church, Senior Manager, Global Communications & Public Affairs at Google Canada. From finance to fast food and government to Google, the guest speakers shared some interesting perspectives on the versatility of the vocation. The recurring theme of integrity that was paramount to both speakers’ professional paths encouraged reflection on the MPC and post-program careers. By establishing new networks and sparking conscious conversations, the PCAA continues to fan the flames of communication for current students and graduates alike, and I look forward to continuing the discussion at the next Fireside Chat.
