Team members Monica Batac, Ian Ray Barcarse, Corinne Graham, Taylor MacLean and Danielle Taylor submitted their project 120 Diner Digital Content Strategy. The comprehensive strategy was developed as a resource to manage online content and increase private event bookings for 120 Diner, a local Toronto restaurant. The strategy leveraged digital marketing and online communication tactics to provide relevant recommendations, actionable objectives and cohesive key messaging that engages new clients.
Starting as a group assignment for PC8005: The Virtual Organization, the strategy was informed by communication theory and supported by original research. After receiving top marks, the students were encouraged to submit an application for a Gold Quill Award.
The winning streak continues for the second year in a row following the inaugural success in 2014 for now MPC alumni Nicola Brown, Laura Baker, Victoria Larson, Natasha Mendonca, Stefan Milosevic and Cayley Montmarquette for their submission RTA School of Media Content Strategy.
Another alumna, Corinne Impey (MPC 2013), received a Gold Quill Excellence Award for Change Management Communication this year. When asked about her win Corinne said:
“It’s an honour to receive this award and I’d be amiss not to recognize that much of my change management foundation comes from my MRP. I’ve been fortunate to apply my research to a communication strategy and help an organization move forward.”
As the School of Professional Communication graduates its fifth MPC cohort, it’s clear that the program continues to prepare professionals that are worthy of international recognition. The IABC Gold Quill Awards is the only awards program that honours communication excellence on a global scale.
